UniMAP staff participated in NLP: TAKE CHARGE!

A 2-day workshop on NLP: Take Charge has been organised by the Counselling Center, UniMAP on the 16 and 17 April, 2013 at UniMAP campus Pauh Putra. The workshop gives knowledge and guidance to participants to take responsibility for their future by the choices they make and the goals they set. In achieving those goals, they learned to strengthen their communication skills, teamwork and appreciating the world around them.  The content of workshop comprised of 6 main sections: Basic Understanding of NLP, Building Rapport, Preparing The Mind, Powerful Communication, Developing Client’s Timelines, and Actionable Plan.

Director of Counselling Center UniMAP, Prof. Dr. Rosnah Ismail said this workshop is highly interactive, NLP-rich (Neuro Linguistic Programming), content rich and practical. ‘Practical’ means by the end of the workshop, participants will know how to take charge of their lives, personal, and at work, and how to much potential they have. They also understand and incorporate the basic presuppositions of NLP into the area of counselling and coaching, building rapport by combining the elements of psychology and physiology, and anchor positive learning points in the mind of their clients. 51 UniMAP staff, academic and non-academic participated in this workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Mohd Rizal Hassan, a qualified Master Practitioner of NLP, and an NLP Master Coach. He is certified by The International NLP Trainers Association (INLPTA) and The American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming (ABNLP).



Vice chancellor of UniMAP led CSR Lecture in Medan

Medan, April 20 - In an effort to expand international cooperation, University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has carried out its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to more than 200 students and academic staff of the Islamic University of North Sumatra (UISU) through an academic and industry lecture which was held at the university recently.

UniMAP was lead by its Vice-Chancellor, Brigadier General Dato 'Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin, who delivered a lecture entitled "Entrepreneurship and its challenges" together with Proven Holdings Executive Chairman, Dato’ Yusuf Jusoh; Sabah Federal Secretary, Dato' Abu Bakar Hassan, Managing Director Drei Sohne Technologies (Deutschland) Sdn. Limited.(DST), Azmi Ahmad, and Maybank Consultant PT, Baharuddin Abdul. Majid.

According to Dato 'Prof. Dr. Kamarudin, this program is a continuation from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between UniMAP and UISU. The MoU was signed during the UISU Graduation ceremony last January.

"It is vital for UniMAP to contribute in such noble causes as this program helps to empower us Muslims," he said.

In fact, he said, the lecture is a community service program by UniMAP and its focal idea was to give the lowdown that success in entrepreneurship is made from sacrifices."We also share our personal experiences with the participants to give them a better understanding from a point of view of an entrepreneur," he added.

During the event, UniMAP has given away 10 copies of entrepreneurship books published by UniMAP as a token of appreciation for the support shown by the program participants.

"UniMAP delegations are pleased with the warm reception by its Rector, Assoc. Ir. Dr. Zulkaranain Lubis. UISU’s rector has also expressed his deepest appreciation for our visit," said Dr Kamaruddin.

UniMAP was also represented by the Dean of School of Business Innovation and Technopreneurship (PPIPT), Assoc. Prof Dr. Hazry Desa; Chief Operating Officer (COO) of UniMAP Holdings, Dr Mohd Najmuddin Mohd Hassan and also Deputy Director of Centre for the International Languages, Mr. Shafiq Hizwari.

UniMAP Retain its Glory in MIRoC 2013

Pauh Putra: University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) retain its glory, when the team won as overall champion again this year at the Malaysian International Robot Competition (MIRoC) 2013 which was held at the UniMAP Main Campus, today.

Success was achieved after UniMAP’s team won first place in the category of Fire Fighting Robot, third place in the category of Paintball Robot. The team also received a couple of special award in the Rope Climbing Robot category and the Best Poster Presentation category.
The victory allows them to rejoice with a cash prize of RM 5 500.

Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Brig. Gen. Dato 'Prof. Dr..Kamarudin Hussin said that he is very proud of the team to be able to remain as champion.

"The competition has becoming more interesting this time round because we have contested another category which is technical category.”

"It is one way to liven up the competition as well as to encourage participations from various universities," he said in his speech at the MIRoC 2013 prize giving and closing ceremony yesterday.

Also present were representatives of Perlis Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Diraja Syed Razlan Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and Chief Assistant Director, Division of Student Affairs and Development, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Enson Din.

MIRoC 2013, formerly known as MURoC, is a competition of robotics technology organized specifically to encourage students to be innovative and creative as well as to enhance the potential among students. The event was held for two days from 12 to 14 April 2013.

Dato’ Kamaruddin added that, this year’s MIRoC involved 131 competing teams from 93 public institutions of higher education (IPTA), private universities (IPTS), polytechnics, community colleges, Mara Higher Skills Colleges and technical institutes as well as 38 schools competing for the school category.
